Lloyd's Register ODS relies on extensive measurement equipment and experienced measurement engineers with in-depth knowledge of noise and vibration problems.
A typical sea trial measurement would include:
- Preparation of measurement programme (conditions, positions, etc.)
- Vibration measurement in selected accommodation areas, in machinery room, aft hull structure and wheel house area
- Noise measurements in selected accommodation areas, in machinery room, etc.
The above items are often extended with some of the items listed below:
- Vibration measurements on machinery
- Torsional vibration measurements on shafts
- Measurement of transmitted power through the shaft
- Pressure pulsation measurement above propeller (cavitation)
