Machinery Dynamics
Our consultancy within machinery dynamics would typically consist of evaluation of the dynamic behaviour of the propulsion plant for a vessel and various machinery installed on-board.
- Main engine
- Gear
- Shaft
- Propeller
- Bearing
- Coupling
- Auxiliary engine / generator
Independent evaluation and verification of the equipment and installation can be performed at the design stage. During the sea trial, measurements can be performed in order to verify compliance with requirements (vibration levels, delivered power, etc.). When the vessel is in operation we solve problems that may arise.
Typically, measurements will be performed as basis for a room cause analysis and subsequently proposals for solutions will be set out. Often theoretical calculations will be performed as part of identifying the cause and in order to verify the efficiency of a proposed counter measure.
Lloyd's Register ODS offers extensive experience in this discipline, which has been built up and developed since the company start in 1980.
Lloyd's Register ODS relies on extensive measurement equipment and facilities as well as experienced measurement engineers with in-depth knowledge of noise and vibration problems.
