Lloyd's Register ODS Company History -
The Founding Four Strengthens Global Marine Consultancy

In February of 2008, the Canadian based engineering firm Martec joined the Danish based consultancy ODS and the Lloyd's Register divisions of Technical Invesigation and Structural Analysis Services to form Lloyd's Register ODS in response to Lloyd's Register's commitment to strenghten its Global Marine Consultancy.

Borne out of Lloyd's Register's Marine Consultancy, the Technical Investigations Division (TID) is based in London and has long been serving clients in the areas of failure investigation, hydrodynamics, noise and vibration, analytical investigations, trials and measurements, and shaft alignment and shafting system analysis.

In a sister division of Lloyd's Register Marine Consultancy, the Structural Analysis Services, also based in London, UK, delivers a range of analysis services in areas of stress, fatigue, vibration prediction, ship motion and dynamic positioning.

The Scandinavian based ODS, was purchased by Lloyd's Register in 2005.  Then known as Odegaard Danneskoild-Samsoe, the company was founded in 1980 and offers services in areas of acoustics, noise and vibration, fluid and machinery dynamics, structural analysis, and measurement, testing and signal analysis.

Martec, an ISO certified Canadian based engineering company, was founded in 1973 and has since served clients by providing solutions to structural, materials and environmental problems using advanced engineering simulation software tools. From enhancing blast protection for military personnel and vehicles, to predicting the motions and stresses of ships in waves, and developing new methods for predicting structural fatigue, Martec helps clients achieve their goals of mitigating risk, enhancing performance and improving survivability. Martec offers advanced engineering simulation technology in areas such as acoustics and vibration analysis, blast effects analysis, custom software development, hydrodynamics, ocean and environmental engineering, risk and probabilistic analysis, and structural analysis.

With these four independently excellent entities integrated into one Marine Consultancy Service, Lloyd's Register ODS is positioned to strengthen its service delivery to both naval and non-naval clients alike.

Lloyd's Register ODS services are offered across all business streams, but is a division of the Marine Consultancy Services.
